Welcome! I am seeking a roommate for a nice apartment in Hudson Heights. What follows is a lot of information that I hope will help you see if this may be the right room for you.
Location
The apartment is:
A 3-minute walk from the M4 & M98 bus stop at Fort Washington Avenue and W 187th Street.
A 6-minute walk from the north entrance to the 181st Street A Station on Fort Washington Avenue between W 184th and W 185th Streets.
A 7-minute walk from Margaret Corbin Circle, the south entrance to Fort Tryon Park.
A 12-minute walk from George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal.
A 13-minute walk to the Post Office on Broadway above 193th St.
There are 2 grocery stores on our block, Franks and Ozzie’s.
The apartment overlooks P.S./I.S. 187 Hudson Cliffs. During the school year, you will hear the sods of laughing children and singing teenagers.
The apartment
The apartment is spacious at 1,100 sq ft. It is in a prewar, elevator building with ladry in the basement. The ladry facilities are not perfect, but they get the job done. The super is friendly and helpful when needed.
One current downside of this apartment is that the facade masonry is being repointed for about the last year. The front of the building is covered in a sidewalk shed. This reduces the natural light in the apartment and generates dust that can come in through the windows.
The living room has a couch and an upright piano. I play the piano most days. I’m not open to a television, but plan to get a projector. I know the walls in the pictures look bare — I’m planning to get some artwork framed and put it up!
The kitchen is a relatively small galley kitchen with a gas stove.
The room
The bedroom for rent is 10′ 7″ by 16′ 8.5″, or 176 sq ft. It has a sizeable closet. The room is offered furnished. The bedroom’s exposure is east.
Your roommate
I’m 31, white, and male. I work in software and trained as a classical musician. Some of my hobbies are cooking, learning languages, art and architecture, and gardening and botany.
One sweet male cat of 8 years lives here. He will befriend you if you are open to it.
My personal part of this neighborhood is The Heather Garden in Fort Tryon Park. I also like that this is a relatively calm part of the city.
Financial details
The rent is $1,525 per month, plus half of internet, gas, and electric. Internet is $95 per month, while gas and electric are typically about $130 per month. You would also have to pay $1,525 into the it’s security deposit.
Living arrangement
The room is available immediately.
You could join the lease, or live here as a roommate not on the lease. The lease rs til July 31st, 2026. Short term arrangements could also work.
Whatever arrangement we work out, we would collaborate on a written roommate agreement we would both sign.
I am open to a small to moderate degree of cooperative living arrangements, like some shared groceries and meals.
