Available now – a totally renovated and updated apartment for rent between Ithaca and Watkins Glen on State Route 79. This beautiful apartment is attached to a six-bay carriage house that is part of a large historic property in the hamlet of Mecklenburg. There are gardens, pathways, and a large yard on the property that are available for use by the tenants. Plenty of parking, too.
The apartment is on the second floor, above three bays of the Carriage House. (No cars are parked in the bays below the apartment.) The total area of the apartment is 820 square feet, and is entered at the top of an enclosed stairway.
When you open the front door and step inside, you are greeted by a large, open floorplan that incorporates the kitchen, dining area, and living room. The bathroom on your left has been completely updated, with a cool curved-glass shower and floating vanity. Beyond that, a glassed-in porch with French door access is to the left, with floor-to-ceiling windows that welcome the morning sshine. The kitchen has also been totally updated with all new appliances, including a full-size electric stove and a dishwasher. There is a broad, custom cotertop that links the kitchen and living room areas, with plenty of room for bar stools when entertaining. The living room features a waterfall wall treatment and an 8-foot wide window for brilliant afternoon light. A 10-foot long live-edge oak slab serves as the windowsill. (Blackout shades included on this window for a pleasant subdued lighting effect.) There are two bedrooms, each with large closets.
With the renovation, we kept some of the structural features visible and added other rustic details like cast iron shelf brackets and a victorian-style millwork panel. All lighting and electrics have been updated One of the kitchen outlets has built-in USB charging ports. The floors are all new, with durable laminate flooring that looks like real wood and marble. The flooring layout is multi-directional for an innovative design look.
Please take a good look at the photographs and you’ll see the high quality of the renovation work that was done using all local contractors
This apartment is on NY State Route 79, which is the main road between Ithaca and Watkins Glen. Trumansburg is an easy 6-mile drive away. The post office is nearby, and there is plenty of parking. Snow removal, grass cutting, and garden maintenance are all taken care of, so no need to worry about winter access – especially because Rt 79 is a state road, and is plowed regularly during winter storms.
There are other rental its on the property, but with the way they are laid out, there is no one living above or below, so there is little or no “neighbor noise” from other tenants.
