I’m moving out of my East Village place and looking for something cheaper with roommates, in reasonable commuting distance of lower Manhattan.

What I’m looking for ideally: I want it to be clean enough I’m not embarrassed to have guests over – not spotless but not gross or with jk piling up everywhere. I’d like my housemates to be interesting people I enjoy talking to. I’d like the space to be enjoyable to be in – aesthetically pleasing, comfy, safe. It’d be great if my housemates liked cats, and if they were willing to take care of them when I’m out of town. Not a hard requirement though. My budget tops out at $1300.
About us:
Echo Nolan (top center) – Human male, 35. Professionally a machine learning engineer (AI stuff). Grew up in Portland, then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, then NYC. Likes going out dancing (EDM, mostly House and House-adjacent stuff). If you pay for the ingredients I’ll make you a pretty good sous vide steak. Other than that I cook but not very well. I’m employed right now, my dad is supporting me financially. That should change soon.
Bobble (bottom left) – Cat male, 13ish. Very friendly, wants attention constantly. Will bug you a lot if he figures out you’ll pay attention to him.
Bella (bottom right) – Cat female, 13ish. Very shy and skittish. She’s very sweet after she warms up to you though.
